Question Of The Day

Tue
Q: Does the IWFL fine players for things like being ejected from a game etc?
A: No. If a player is ejected (or does something else that results in a grievance) the Diciplinary and Protest Committee may recommend a fine be assessed to the team business, but it is not assessed to the player.
Some teams have chosen to recover the cost from the player that caused the fine, but this is not a league policy and varies from team to team.
Sat
Q: Why does the league decide not to renew some teams?
A: Each team delegate and team is reviewed annually. If a team has shown it is not able to maintain the high operating standards required for membership, the delegate and team may not be renewed. Delegates also may not be renewed if they show they are not operating honestly and with the best interest of the sport (players, teams, and league) in mind. In almost all cases the decision not to renew a team membership is in no way a reflection on the players. It is always unfortunate that they are caught in the middle when a team owner/delegate doesn't honor their commitments.
*Any player with questions on this topic is encouraged to contact the league chief operating officer. iwfl@iwflsports.com
Tues
Q: What is Sixxes football, I've heard of it but what is it?
A: Sixxes is basically six man football. Six man is played in the U.S. and Canada by small town high schools. Six man was invented in 1934 to give small town schools a version of football they could play with small rosters. The IWFL adjusted a few of the playing rules in 2005 to make the game even less expensive and more accessible to play. That version is sixxes. For info on six man football visit www.sixmanfootball.com
Sat
Q: How do I submit a question for "Question Of The Day"?
A: Simply send "IWFL" a message with your question.

Thurs
Q: What is a team Delegate?
A: A team IWFL Delegate is your team's IWFL representative (usually your team's owner or GM) for the territory. They hold your team's membership in the league and are responsible for making sure the team operates within the standards outlined by the IWFL. The Delegate is also the players first point of contact for the IWFL. If ever you either can't reach your Delegate or are not comfortable speaking to your Delegate about something, you may contact the IWFL office directly to have your concern resolved.
IWFL general email: iwfl@iwflsports.com OR you can contact league officers directly through this network.

The beauty of winter is nearly upon us, and I've been keeping busy with my camera lens glued to the glass at Centennial Arena, making friends with all sorts of folks — including a four-year-old girl at the Terriers game who asked me if I was going on a date with one of the players after the game last week. (Umm no.)

I try to keep up with as many of my old teams as possible, and the p… Continue

Is the IWFL losing teams

this was the original post that i wrote: I know that there are several teams on the IWFL team page that are having problems with their official web sites so i am asking if anyone knows what is going on with the Detroit Demolition and Minnesota Vixens? Have these two teams folded or is there a problem with their team's official web sites. Also have the Oakland Banshees called it quits too?

I know that the IWFL has informed me that the Detroit Demolition and Minnesota Vixens are still active, but… Continue

MEMPHIS BELLES JOIN IWFL RANKS FOR 2010 SEASON

Round Rock, Texas –The Independent Women's Football League is pleased to announce that Paula Anderson-Estep, representing the Memphis Belles, has been awarded a full membership license and will join the league’s roster of teams for the 2010 season.   “The Belles feature a strong coaching staff, and roster of experienced players. IWFL WELCOMES BANDITS TO WESTERN LINE UP

Round Rock, Texas –The Independent Women's Football League is pleased to announce that Neda Mohammadi, representing the Bay Area Bandits, has been awarded a full membership license and will join the league’s roster of teams for the 2010 season. The Bay Area Bandits are a new team organized to provide women in the San Francisco Bay Area an opportunity to play tackle football at the national level.   “The Bandits will be a solid addition to the Western Conference. This team boasts a large number of veteran athletes so we expect them to have a very good inaugural season,” stated Laurie Frederick, IWFL Chief Executive Officer, “They know what to expect on the field and off and that experience will serve them well.”   The Bandits management team spent the better part of the last year planning and structuring the business that will support team operations. Last spring the team began to offer organized conditioning sessions in an effort to introduce more women to the sport. By addressing the need to introduce physical training (specific to tackle football) early the Bandits will begin standardized camps and practices with a core group of players that are ready to take the field. For try out information visit the team website www.bayareabandits.com   “We are excited about our partnership with the IWFL for our break-out 2010 season.  We are looking forward to competing with teams in such a well established league such as the IWFL,” stated Neda Mohammadi, Bay Area Bandits team Delegate and General Manager.
