Round Rock, Texas –The Independent Women's Football League is pleased to announce that Annemarie Howland, representing the Binghamton Tiger Cats, has been awarded a full membership license. The Binghamton Tiger Cats are a second year team organized to provide women in Binghamton, New York an opportunity to play tackle football at the national level. The Tiger Cats will join the league’s roster of Eastern Conference teams for the 2010 season.
“This is a strong young team lead by a very impressive group of dedicated coaches,” stated Laurie Frederick, IWFL Chief Executive Officer, “As Head Coach, John Evans has done some great things in Binghamton in a very short period of time. We look forward to a long and successful relationship with this great group of people.”
Round Rock, Texas –The Independent Women's Football League is proud to announce that Christina Carrillo, representing the So Cal Scorpions, has been awarded a full membership license. The Scorpions will join the league’s growing roster of teams for the 2010 season. The team comes to the IWFL after completing five successful seasons, with three post season appearances as well as a championship title in their former league.
“The So Cal Scorpions are the last major champion to join the IWFL. This marks a historic moment for the team, league and our sport. This is a great team in a great city and we’re thrilled to welcome them to the IWFL family,” stated Kezia Disney, IWFL Chief Operating Officer.

The HTown Texas Cyclones come to the IWFL after completing two seasons in other leagues.
“This team had a rough go of it last season and has since made some very positive changes to their organization. They are led on the field by Head Coach Dan Morgan and Offensive Coordinator Larkay James. Both have decades of experience and currently coach high school football in Houston,” stated Kezia Disney, IWFL Chief Operating Officer, “this team has revamped operations, and with their new coach’s focus on teaching the fundamentals and promoting a positive environment, they are sure to make big strides toward building a great team.”
America’s First Women’s National Team in Football Vies for 2010 IFAF Women’s World Championship in Stockholm
Football history will be made in Stockholm, Sweden, next summer.
USA Football, the sport’s national governing body on youth and amateur levels, will assemble and manage America’s first women’s national team in the sport. Forty-five (45) of America’s best female athletes will comprise USA Football’s 2010 Women’s National Team, which will compete in the first International Federation of American Football (IFAF) Women’s World Championship in Stockholm, Sweden, from June 26-July 4, 2010.
Six countries, including the United States, will participate in the landmark tournament. Paris-based IFAF, the sport’s international federation, will announce the six-nation field by December 1.
Women's tackle football, a growing segment within a burgeoning international sport, is played competitively in Austria, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Germany, Finland, Sweden, Venezuela and the United States.
Team USA players will be selected from the Independent Women’s Football League (IWFL), which consists of more than 1,800 female athletes on 51 teams across North America. USA Football, with assistance from the IWFL, will select and announce the team’s coaching staff and player roster by Feb. 1, 2010. The IWFL is an official sport partner of USA Football. USA Football’s Women’s National Team will be outfitted in Riddell equipment. Chicago-based Riddell is the official helmet and protective equipment partner of USA Football’s national teams.
